1. DESIRE - The courage to become a true ambassador of music pageantry

  2. ATTITUDE - In general, membership with Storm is awarded to individuals who share our values and who display a willingness to work hard to achieve our mutual goals. A positive attitude is more important to us than "just" talent.

  3. Health - Rehearsals, performances and travel make drum corps even more intense and demanding than many collegiate level sports. Your body must be capable of holding up under tremendously stressful physical conditions.

  4. TIME - Our Program has been established to supplement the music education experience our members receive(d) in high school and college. It is important however that Storm members fully understand the commitment they are making to our organization in light of other obligations they may already have. Communication in this area is the key to your success. In order to be considered for membership, you must be able to plan your personal and work schedule(s) so that you can participate in corps functions November thru August (this includes employment, drivers training, summer school and all other non academic activities). Specific allowances for absence for off season rehearsals can be made if you phone or e-mail at least two weeks before any function. The summer season begin in early June and the season culminates in August at SoundSport Food and Music Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  5. FINANCES – Finances are a major concern for all drum corps.  Drum corps are non-profit organizations and most groups run on rather expensive annual budgets. Storm will generate income through corps fundraisers, performance fees, membership dues, and donations.  Fees for the 2018 season are set at $40 per month dues for the months of December thru August, $35 a month camp fees and an expectation to fund raise between $30 and $40 a month per marching member. The opportunity exists for any member who raises $100 a month in fundraising to actually not pay any out of pocket fees other that the $38 membership fee.  Those who earn more the $100 a month can have that amount carried forward for subsequent months.  Any monies left after August will we transferred into the corps general fund.
the Special arrangements can also be reached for families who have multiple individuals participating in the corps.  When the corps travels and at camps, meals will be prepared for members.

  6.  Membership recruitment is an on going process, fall being the best time to join to get a full rehearsal season but members are accepted all year long as long as vacancies exist.

Individuals who plan on auditioning for the program, please complete the membership application below.  This application does not obligate you, but helps to provide us with an indication of the need for equipment during the first rehearsals.

Volunteers are vital to the success of any non profit organization.

They’re the unsung heroes of drum corps, putting in as many hours behind the scenes as members do on the field. They cook for hungry performers and staff, sew flags, drive trucks, and perform countless other tasks and activities. Though volunteers receive no compensation for their hard work, their incredible efforts combined make an indelible impression on the drum corps activity–making each season possible.

Whether you can volunteer for an hour, a day, a weekend, a week, or the entire summer, there is a place for you. Whether you can work in the food area, or can prepare a meal or snack to bring to the corps, we NEED you! There is always something that needs to be done, and whatever level of time commitment you have available, there is a position for you.
